Chelsea welcome London rivals Crystal Palace to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Blues cruised to an impressive 6-2 victory over Wolves last weekend, but were humbled by a 2-1 defeat against Swiss side Servette in the second leg of their Europa Conference League play-off tie on Thursday.

Enzo Maresca’s side will be without one defender for the game against the Eagles, though, after Trevoh Chalobah joined Palace on a season-long loan deal.

The Selhurst Park outfit confirmed on Saturday morning that the Englishman had joined the club on loan from Chelsea.

Chalobah had been told by Maresca that he was not part of the Italian’s plans for the current campaign, and he has therefore made the move across London in search of more regular game time.

Chalobah will spend the rest of the season on loan at Crystal Palace

The centre-back, who can also play in defensive midfield, is a product of Chelsea’s fruitful youth academy and has played a total of 80 times for the club across all competitions.

The arrivals of Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana and Tosin Adarabioyo over the past two years, as well as the emergence of Levi Colwill from the academy, have pushed Chalobah down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

Chalobah, 25, has previously spent time on loan at Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town, and French side Lorient.

He becomes Palace’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window, although he won’t be available for their clash with Chelsea on Sunday.
