Chelsea left-back Emerson is attracting transfer interest from West Ham United, according to reports.

The Italy international arrived at Stamford Bridge from Roma in 2018 and has since made 55 appearances in all competitions.

However, the summer arrival of Ben Chilwell from Leicester City and fellow competition from Marcos Alonso means the 26-year-old’s game time could be limited this term.

Chilwell signed for Chelsea last month.

This, according to The Independent, has caught the eye of the Hammers, who are in the market for a new left-back.

It’s claimed that boss David Moyes wants to provide competition to Aaron Cresswell as he looks to freshen up a squad which looked short of quality in their opening day 2-0 Premier League defeat at home to Newcastle United.

Despite finishing last term in 16th, the Irons have done just one piece of first-team transfer business this summer – turning Tomas Soucek’s loan into a permanent deal.

However, if West Ham are to secure the signature of Emerson from their London rivals it’s thought that they will have to see off competition from Inter Milan.
