Chelsea fans have plenty of reason for optimism at present, with the club’s second Champions League triumph still fresh in the memory and a number of the club’s players starring at Euro 2020.

Kai Havertz has scored three times for Germany, while N’Golo Kante and Mason Mount have impressed in midfield for France and England respectively.

The Blues have a number of stars in their current squad, however it appears that the club could be planning a clear out this summer to allow for new signings.

Ross Barkley, Danny Drinkwater, Davide Zappacosta and Marcos Alonso are all expected to depart Stamford Bridge this summer, with the latter linked heavily with a move to Inter Milan in recent weeks.

The possible move had been touted to be part of Chelsea’s bid for Achraf Hakimi, however the news that the Moroccan is on his way to Paris Saint-Germain means that Alonso will be staying put for now, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via SempreInter.com).

Chelsea had made an approach for Hakimi, who can play as a wing-back or full-back on either side of the defence, however it appears that he will now complete a move to PSG.

Alonso has made over 150 appearances for the Blues since joining in 2016.

Alonso had reportedly been handpicked by Inter to be included as part of a swap deal for the player, however the collapse of the Hakimi deal also means that the Spaniard will not be heading in the other direction.

The report also suggests that Chelsea are weighing up one final offer for the player, totalling around £65 million.

Hakimi would provide competition for Reece James at right wing-back, while also filling in on the other side when required.

Alonso enjoyed successful seasons at the club under Antonio Conte, but has since fallen down the packing order and could be keen on a move elsewhere.
