Tottenham Hotspur ended a dismal run of Premier League form with a 2-0 win against Brentford on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs had picked up just a single point from seven league games before making the visit to West London, but an own goal and a late strike from Papa Matar Sarr earned Ange Postecoglou’s side a much needed victory.

The win moves the Lilywhites up to 14th in the top flight table, and Postecoglou will hope to see his side pick up where they left off when they face Liverpool in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Thursday.

Off the pitch those in charge of Spurs’ recruitment are working to bolster Postecoglou’s squad before Monday’s 11pm transfer deadline, but it appears that a Premier League defender has rejected a move to North London.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea centre-back Axel Disasi has snubbed a proposed move to Tottenham as he has already agreed personal terms with Aston Villa.

The 26-year-old has played a bit-part role for Enzo Maresca’s side this term and has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this month.

Disasi has attracted interest from Premier League clubs

Romano claims that rivals Tottenham and Chelsea have agreed a loan deal for the Frenchman, which wouldn’t include an option-to-buy clause but would include a loan fee.

However, the player himself isn’t accepting the move to North London as he has already agreed terms with the Villans.

Chelsea, though, won’t negotiate with Villa as they are seen as a direct rival in the race to qualify for the Champions League next term.

Disasi joined Chelsea from French side Monaco in August 2023 and has since played more than 60 times for the club across all competitions.

Having featured regularly during his first season in England, the France international has fallen down the pecking order since Maresca’s arrival last summer and has started just four of Chelsea’s 23 Premier League matches so far.
