Chelsea slumped to a disappointing 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Anthony Elanga’s second-half strike was enough to earn Steve Cooper’s visitors all three points at Stamford Bridge, inflicting a second defeat of the season on Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The Blues and Forest were the Premier League’s two busiest clubs during the summer transfer window, completing more than 25 signings between them.

Both Callum Hudson-Odoi and Andrey Santos also made the switch from Stamford Bridge to the City Ground – the latter on loan – but it now appears that a third Blues star came close to joining Forest.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Forest had agreed a deal worth more than £25 million for Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, but the player decided against the proposed switch.

Chalobah, 24, is a product of Chelsea’s youth academy and has been involved with the first team squad for the past two seasons.

Chalobah was reportedly offered the chance to join Steve Cooper’s side on deadline day

In total the Englishman has made 63 appearances across all competitions, including 45 in the Premier League.

Last season the defender featured regularly under Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Frank Lampard, making 33 appearances across all competitions.

He is yet to feature so far this term, though, due to an ongoing injury.

Romano claims that Forest sent Chalobah a proposal on Friday, shortly before the transfer window shut, but the defender decided against the move.

It had previously been claimed that German champions Bayern Munich, now managed by former Chelsea boss Tuchel, were interested in signing the ex-Ipswich Town man.

The move never materialised, though, and Chalobah will remain part of Pochettino’s squad until January at the earliest.

Chalobah will be competing with Thiago Silva, Levi Colwill, Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile for a place in Pochettino’s back line.
