Chelsea are reportedly weighing up a late move for Marseille defender Nicolas N’Koulou.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho is desperately unhappy with his side’s start to their Premier League defence this campaign, mustering just one win in their opening four league games, including two defeats after yesterday’s 2-1 loss at home to Crystal Palace.

Bearing that in mind; Chelsea are on the lookout for a new defender before the close of the transfer window on September 1, with the Cameroon international their new number one target.

The 25-year-old, who has 60 international caps to his name, scored twice in 26 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit last season.

Chelsea were keen on bringing in England centre-half John Stones to Stamford Bridge, but Everton have stood firm over their prized asset after rejecting four bids for the 21-year-old already this summer, including their latest offer of £38m.
