Chelsea are targeting a swoop for Wolverhampton Wanderers star Ruben Neves, according to reports.

The 24-year-old played against the Blues in Sunday’s 0-0 draw at Molineux which saw the London side fall six points behind leaders Man City in the Premier League.

Thomas Tuchel will not want to lose any further ground on Pep Guardiola’s side and is reportedly eyeing a January deal to help their stuttering title challenge.

According to TodoFichajes, the German boss is interested in bringing Neves to Stamford Bridge at the turn of the year.

The Portugal international joined Wolves from FC Porto when they were in the Championship in 2017.

He has since played a key part in getting the club promoted and established in the Premier League, scoring 21 times in 193 matches.

As Neves has two-and-a-half years remaining on his current deal, it’s claimed that Wolves would want a fee in the region of £38 million.

Tuchel is aiming to bolster his midfield options due to N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic having all suffered injuries this season.

Additionally, summer signing Saul Niguez has struggled to make an impression, making just two Premier League starts since moving on loan from Atletico Madrid
