Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing England international midfielder Danny Drinkwater this summer, according to Sky Sports News.

The Premier League champions, who have already recruited goalkeeper Willy Caballero, defender Antonio Rudiger, midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and striker Alvaro Morata this transfer window, have been linked with a new raid for the Leicester City star ahead of the forthcoming 2017-18 campaign.

The 27-year-old, who has three international caps for The Three Lions, scored one goal and provided three assists in 43 appearances in all competitions for The Foxes last season.

Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater.

Drinkwater, who arrived at the King Power Stadium back in January 2012 following his move from Premier League rivals Manchester United, has netted 15 times in 218 games overall for Craig Shakespeare’s side, and played a key role in Leicester’s fairy tale 2015-16 title triumph.

Following the £40m departure of fellow midfielder Nemanja Matic from Stamford Bridge to United this week, the report suggests Blues boss Antonio Conte is considering Drinkwater as a potential replacement for the Serbian star.
