Chelsea suffered a shock 4-1 defeat against Scottish champions Celtic in their latest pre-season match on Saturday.

Enzo Maresca’s side were held to a 2-2 draw by League One side Wrexham in their first friendly of the summer, and they found themselves 4-0 down against Celtic on Saturday, before Christopher Nkunku converted a late penalty.

The West London side have been far from impressive so far during pre-season, and the Italian will be desperate to see his side improve before the start of the new Premier League season.

The Blues have been one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs during the summer transfer window so far, but it doesn’t look like their spending will stop any time soon.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are finalising a deal for Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.

Sorensen is set to join Chelsea in the coming days

It is claimed that the Danish ‘keeper is currently on his way to the United States – where Chelsea are on their pre-season tour – in order to sign a long-term contract with the club and become the Blues’ seventh signing of the summer window.

The 22-year-old joined Villarreal’s youth academy in 2015 and has since graduated into the first team setup.

He has played a total of 44 times for his current side across all competitions, keeping seven clean sheets.

Romano suggests that the Denmark Under-21 international will put pen-to-paper on a contract that will run until the summer of 2030, with the option of a further 12 months.

The arrival of Sorensen at Stamford Bridge will cast further doubt over the future of Spaniard Kepa Arrizabalaga, who spent last season on loan at La Liga champions Real Madrid but now faces uncertainty around where he will be next term.
