Chelsea slumped to a third straight Premier League defeat on Saturday as they were beaten 1-0 by Newcastle United.

Graham Potter’s side have now failed to win any of their last five league games, and they go into the mid-season World Cup break sitting eighth in the table.

The former Brighton and Hove Albion boss now has around six weeks to work on improving his side’s fortunes before the Premier League returns on Boxing Day.

The Blues have been linked with moves for a number of players in recent weeks, but it now appears that one of their current stars could be set for a move away from the club in January.

According to La Gazzette dello Sport via Football Italia, AC Milan are keen to sign Hakim Ziyech during the upcoming window.

The winger has endured a tough time ever since arriving at Stamford Bridge, but his form of late has been a particular concern for The Blues.

The 29-year-old joined Chelsea from Ajax in 2020 for a fee of around £33 million but he has struggled to establish himself as a regular ever since.

Ziyech has struggled for game time this season

The Moroccan, who has been recalled to his national team squad for the World Cup, has made just 92 appearances for his current side across all competitions, scoring 14 goals and providing ten assists.

He has been particularly out of form this term, and has played just 148 minutes of Premier League football.

Despite his poor form, Milan are believed to be willing to pay the reported fee of around £15 million fee that Chelsea will demand for the winger.

The Italian side are also willing to meet his wage demands, and are keen to secure a deal in January.

The Serie A champions are believed to be long-term admirers of Ziyech, and they will now use funds from their Champions League revenue to launch a move for the player.

Ziyech was substituted on for the final 17 minutes against Newcastle on Saturday but failed to have any real impact on the match.

The Blues have been linked with the likes of Milan’s Rafael Leao and RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku, both of whom could act as a replacement for Ziyech, who is contracted to Chelsea until the summer of 2025.
