The FA Cup fourth round takes place this weekend with Brighton and Hove Albion hosting Chelsea in one of the all-Premier League ties.

Enzo Maresca’s side returned to winning ways on Monday with a 2-1 comeback victory over London rivals West Ham United, before the Blues announced the signing of midfielder Mathis Amougou from French side Saint-Etienne on Tuesday.

Having returned to winning ways against the Hammers, Maresca will hope to see his side pick up where they left off when they face the Seagulls at The Amex on Saturday night.

The Blues were relatively quiet during the January transfer window with Amougou their only senior signing, although several players did depart the club.

Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka and Joao Felix are among those to have departed Stamford Bridge, but it appears that another star players could leave the club this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano speaking on his YouTube channel, forward Christopher Nkunku could depart Chelsea this summer ‘if there is a good opportunity’.

Nkunku looked likely to leave Chelsea in January but remains part of Maresca’s squad

The Frenchman has played a bit-part role for the Blues this season and was heavily linked with a move during the recent window, but ultimately stayed put.

Premier League rivals Manchester United and German giants Bayern Munich were touted as potential suitors for Nkunku, 27, but a deal never materialised.

Nkunku joined Chelsea from German side RB Leipzig in 2023 but was plagued by injuries during his debut season in London.

This term, the France international has struggled to establish himself as a regular and has seen his best opportunities for playing time come in the Europa Conference League and domestic cup competitions.

Despite scoring 13 times across all competitions, the forward has started just three of the Blues’ 24 Premier League matches.

Romano claims that the player himself never wanted to depart Chelsea on loan, but he could leave Stamford Bridge when the window reopens this summer if a good opportunity arises.
