Chelsea fringe player frustrated at current role

After a slow start to his tenure at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino will be pleased with his side’s performances of late. 

The Blues have underperformed in terms of results so far this season and currently sit tenth in the Premier League table, but the Argentine will undoubtedly feel that his side have been unfortunate at times.

The West London outfit were arguably unfortunate not to beat both Liverpool and Arsenal at Stamford Bridge, and also threatened to defeat reigning champions Manchester City before eventually being held to a 4-4 draw.

With a daunting run of matches against some of the division’s top sides now coming to an end, Pochettino will be hopeful that Chelsea can kick on over the festive period and move up the top flight table.

Despite their recent improvement, it appears that one of Pochettino’s fringe players is unhappy with his current role in the squad.

According to TeamTalk, winger Noni Madueke is growing increasingly frustrated at his lack of playing time since the former Tottenham Hotspur man’s arrival, and could look to depart the club in January.

Madueke has struggled to establish himself in the first team at Chelsea

The 21-year-old joined Chelsea from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in January this year, and made 12 appearances during the latter part of last season.

He has played just eight times so far this season, though, and has only started one of the Blues’ 13 Premier League matches.

The Englishman signed a seven-year contract when arriving at Stamford Bridge earlier this year, but the report claims that the player is open to the prospect of leaving Chelsea when the transfer window reopens in January.

Madueke, a former Spurs youth star, scored 20 goals and provided 14 assists in 80 matches for PSV during his time in the Netherlands.

Since returning to London he has only scored twice, though, and he is yet to register an assist for Chelsea.
