Lazio defender, Stefan de Vrij, has handed Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, a massive boost ahead of the January window, according to Italian outlet, Il Messaggero.

Despite reports that the Italian outfit are set to offer their man a new contract in a bid to ward off interest from around Europe, Il Messaggero claim that the Dutch international is open to a move to the Premier League.

Although he managed to add David Luiz and Marcos Alonso to his squad in the summer, the Blues boss still seems keen to bolster his back line after a slow start to his first season in English football.

The 24-year-old, is set to be offered a contract including a release clause of around £30m, meaning the South London side would need to splash the cash in order to land their man.

Conte’s side currently sit seventh in the Premier League, having conceded nine goals thus far, with Liverpool the only side in the top half of the table to have conceded more, with 10.
