Chelsea have reportedly had a £50 million bid for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata rejected, with the attacker likely to stay at the Bernabeu, according to Marca.

New Blues boss Antonio Conte is keen to bring in a striker this summer to challenge Diego Costa and strengthen a team that finished in a disappointing 10th position in the Premier League last term, and is a huge admirer of the Spaniard, who scored three times for his nation at Euro 2016.

Real exercised a buy-back clause for the 23-year-old from Serie A champions Juventus this summer, and there had been suggestions that the Spanish giants were willing to sell the forward.

However, Los Blancos’ president Florentino Perez wants to see more youth in the team, and Morata, who scored 12 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions for Juve last season, is likely to now challenge Karim Benzema for a spot in the Real starting XI.
