Chelsea’s dismal season continued on Saturday as they were beaten 2-1 by Brighton and Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues – who netted their first goal in five matches when going ahead against The Seagulls – are now winless in six games across all competitions.

Caretaker manager Frank Lampard, who is yet to see his side avoid defeat since returning to the club, will now turn his attention to Chelsea’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Brighton, meanwhile, are enjoying an excellent season under Roberto De Zerbi, and currently occupy seventh place in the Premier League table.

On Saturday, The Seagulls defeated Chelsea despite centre-back Levi Colwill, who is on loan at The Amex from The Blues, being unavailable for the game.

The 20-year-old has been linked with a move away from Chelsea in recent days, but it appears that the west London outfit are intent on keeping hold of the youngster beyond this summer.

As per The Independent, Chelsea have no intention of allowing Colwill to leave the club this summer, with the defender instead set to be part of The Blues’ first team squad for next season.

Colwill has been impressing on loan at Brighton this season

The England under-21 international has impressed on the south coast so far this season, making 15 appearances across all competitions including ten in the top flight.

His performances had prompted interest from both City and Liverpool, with the two clubs hopeful that Chelsea would be forced into selling Colwill this summer.

Chelsea have spent more than £500 million on 15 new signings in the past 12 months and will therefore have to sell a number of players when the transfer window reopens this summer.

The report claims that Colwill won’t be one of those that is moved on, though, as the club have no plans to sell or loan the defender out again.

Last season, Colwill spent a successful spell on loan at Huddersfield Town, helping The Terriers to the play-off final at Wembley.
