Chelsea are in talks with Atletico Madrid over the sale of striker Alvaro Morata, according to Sky Sports.

The 26-year-old has endured a tough one-and-a-half year spell at Stamford Bridge and since the arrival of Maurizio Sarri has found his opportunities limited.

Eden Hazard has often been preferred as a false nine which has seen the Spain international start just 11 Premier League matches this term, in which he’s scored five times.

However, La Liga side Atletico Madrid could be set to end the player’s torrid time in England as they now reportedly lead the race to sign the former Real Madrid man.

Morata has scored 24 times in 72 matches for Chelsea.

Morata was brought to West London in a club-record £70million deal to replace Diego Costa, who was sold back to the Spanish side in the summer of 2017.

However, with Costa scoring just once in the league and struggling with injuries this term, boss Diego Simeone is looking to bring in another attacker.

Sarri has made it no secret that he would like another striker, and the Italian has been linked with moves for Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson and Juventus’ Gonzalo Higuain.
