Chelsea get their Carabao Cup campaign underway on Wednesday when they travel to face Manchester City at The Etihad.

Graham Potter’s side are in poor form at present having failed to win in any of their last four league games, and they face a City side that have won three games on the bounce.

Pep Guardiola’s side have also won the Carabao Cup five times since 2016, suggesting that The Blues may have a tricky task on their hands.

Chelsea have already been linked with a number of potential signings ahead of the upcoming January transfer window, and it has now been revealed that they have made contact with one young star.

According to The Evening Standard, the club have held talks with Brazilian wonderkid Endrick.

Chelsea have held several talks with the 16-year-old in a bid to gain an advantage in what is likely to be a keenly contested battle for his signature.

The report claims that both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the teenager, who currently plays for Brazilian side Palmeiras.

Madrid will be hoping that Vinicius can persuade his fellow countryman to join the club

The Spanish side may be in pole position to sign Endrick, as the youngster has previously admitted his admiration for the club.

Current Madrid star Vinicius Jr’s agent is believed to be involved in the negotiations, along with Endrick’s father.

The Champions League holders will be hoping that both Vinicius and fellow Brazilian teammate Rodrygo can persuade the teenager to move to the Spanish capital.

Due to the player’s age, any deal would have to be signed at the end of the current season and wouldn’t be completed until the following summer.

Endrick has scored three goals and provided an assist in five games since making his debut for Palmeiras, having impressed for their youth teams previously, scoring 165 goals in 169 games.

Since taking charge of the club, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has put an emphasis on signing young players, with the likes of Gabriel Slonina, Omari Hutchinson and Carney Chukwuemeka all having arrived at Stamford Bridge so far.
