Chelsea have made an improved offer for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde and are now waiting for the Spanish side’s response.

The Blues have been linked with the France international for almost a year now, but it appears that they may finally be nearing an agreement.

As per Fabrizio Romano, the London side have submitted an offer of £55 million, although talks are ongoing with the La Liga outfit over the terms of the offer.

It has been widely reported that Kounde has already agreed personal terms with the Blues, who he was very keen to join last summer but a move never materialised.

Kounde was linked with Chelsea last summer and also in January

Romano claims, though, that Chelsea are still in talks with the player directly, implying that a deal has not yet been struck with the Frenchman.

Barcelona, who have already beaten Chelsea to the signing of Raphinha this summer, are also interested in the 23-year-old, who made 44 appearances across all competitions for Sevilla last season.

The centre-back has made more than 130 appearances for his current side since joining from Bordeaux in 2019.
