Chelsea’s abysmal run of form continued on Sunday as they were beaten 4-0 by Manchester City in the FA Cup third round.

The Blues have now won just one of their last ten matches in all competitions, with a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth last month their only victory in that time.

Graham Potter, who is under increasing pressure to turn his side’s fortunes around, named a relatively inexperienced starting line up for the match on Sunday.

Teenage centre-back Bashir Humphreys was given his debut for The Blues, while 18-year-old Lewis Hall started at left-back.

Potter’s gamble didn’t pay off though as The Citizens cruised to victory, setting up a fourth round tie against either Oxford United or Arsenal.

Another player that was handed his debut on Sunday was David Datro Fofana, who signed for Chelsea from Norwegian side Molde last week.

The Ivory Coast international was substituted on at half-time on Sunday, replacing Kai Havertz who had failed to impress in the first period.

Fofana, 20, had little in the way of service during his first showing in Chelsea colours, and it remains to be seen whether or not he will be a part of Potter’s squad for the remainder of the campaign.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are yet to decide what to do with the young forward.

Fofana made his Chelsea debut against Manchester City on Sunday

Romano claims that the club will decide during the second half of January whether or not to send the youngster out on loan.

Fofana cost Chelsea a reported £10.5 million when he joined the club, signing a six-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

He scored 24 goals in 65 matches for former club Molde and with Chelsea’s current lack of attacking options, many have suggested that he may be given a chance to impress in the first team during the remainder of the current campaign.

It is claimed that the player will be given the opportunity to impress his new manager, who will decide on his future with the board.

Potter’s other options up front are Havertz, who has scored just five goals across all competitions so far this term, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has failed to score in any of his last ten matches.

Having been knocked out of both domestic cups by City and with qualification for the Champions League looking almost impossible, many Chelsea supporters will be hoping that Potter gives his younger stars a chance to impress in the coming weeks.
