Chelsea are reportedly the new favourites to sign Premier League striker Saido Berahino during the January transfer window, according to the Express.
The defending league champions, who drew 2-2 with West Brom in midweek, want the Baggies forward this month to help Guus Hiddink’s Blues push for a miraculous top-four finish this term.
The 22-year-old, who came through the Midlands’ club’s youth ranks, has scored three league goals in 16 games for Tony Pulis’ side this season.
Berahino, who was called up to the England national team back in November 2014, is valued at around £23m by West Brom.
Chelsea’s London rivals Tottenham were interested in the former England Under-21 star’s services, but it seems Spurs’ pursuit has now fizzled out as they look for alternative options during the January transfer window.
