Chelsea have reportedly emerged as favourites to sign France international star Tiemoue Bakayoko, according to the Mirror.
The Premier League club, who defeated Stoke City 2-1 at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon to preserve their 10-point gap at the top of the standings, have been heavily linked with a summer swoop for the AS Monaco defensive midfielder.
The 22-year-old, who has recently been called up to France’s senior side for the first time in his career, has scored three goals and provided one assist in 41 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit so far this season.
Bakayoko, who netted during last week’s 3-1 victory over Premier League rivals Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League, is understood to be keen on a move to the English top-flight ahead of the 2017-18 term.
Despite interesting a whole host of European heavyweights ahead of this summer’s transfer window, the report suggests The Blues are in pole position to secure the Frenchman’s signature, with boss Antonio Conte a keen admirer of the dynamic midfielder.
