Chelsea completed their first signing of the summer transfer window on Tuesday, with Christopher Nkunku joining from German side RB Leipzig.

The France international scored 23 goals across all competitions last term but has now joined the Blues on a six-year deal, the club announced.

Several players will likely depart Stamford Bridge this summer following a year of huge spending, with owner Todd Boehly having spent more than £500 million on new arrivals since taking charge of the club last summer.

While new manager Mauricio Pochettino will have to make some tricky decision on the futures of several players, it appears that the London outfit are still in the market for further new signings.

As per Football Insider, the Blues are in talks over proposed moves for both Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia and Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga.

The report claims that Chelsea are keen to sign Brighton and Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo this summer, but are also hoping to sign a second central midfielder alongside the Ecuador international.

Both Lavia and Veiga are said to be targets for Chelsea’s rivals Liverpool, but it appears that the west London side could make a move for one of the players.

Veiga has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs

Despite their interest, Chelsea would reportedly have to wait until a number of players have officially left the club before completing a move for Lavia or Veiga.

The likes of Hakim Ziyech, Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount and N’Golo Kante are all believed to be on the verge of departing Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea looking to reduce their wage bill and squad size before completing new signings.

Veiga, 21, was in fine form for Celta this season, making 39 appearances across all competitions.

Lavia, meanwhile, enjoyed a superb debut season for Southampton despite the Saints’ relegation.

The Belgian made 34 appearances across all competitions and is believed to have attracted interest from a number of clubs, including both Chelsea and Liverpool.

The 19-year-old joined Southampton from Manchester City last summer, and the Citizens are reported to have the option to buy the midfielder back from next summer onwards.
