Chelsea cruised through to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a 5-0 win over League Two Barrow on Tuesday night.

Christopher Nkunku netted an early brace to put the hosts in charge at Stamford Bridge, before a delightful Joao Felix free-kick was deflected into the back of the net by Barrow goalkeeper Paul Farman.

Moments after the break, Pedro Neto converted a pass from Mykhaylo Mudryk to register his first Chelsea goal, and Nkunku completed his hat-trick shortly after.

The result moves the Blues into the fourth round of the competition that they reached the final of last season, before being beaten by Liverpool at Wembley.

After a busy summer of transfers, it appears that Chelsea are once again chasing a new defender.

As per TEAMtalk, the West London outfit are interested in RB Leipzig centre-back Castello Lukeba.

Lukeba has emerged as a target for Chelsea

The 21-year-old defender only joined Leipzig last summer, signing from French side Lyon.

He has since been a regular for the German side, though, and his impressive displays appear to have attracted the interest of Chelsea.

Liverpool came close to signing the defender three years ago for a fee of around £30 million, but his value will undoubtedly have risen since then.

The report claims that the Premier League side’s scouts have watched Lukeba in action on numerous occasions, although Spanish giants Real Madrid are also said to be interested in the player and Lukeba himself is believed to be keen on the prospect.

Lukeba is contracted to Leipzig for four more years, but the report suggests that Chelsea could be ready to ramp up their interest in the player, who is regarded as one of the best young defenders in the world.

It is claimed that the defender isn’t expected to be at Leipzig beyond next summer.
