Chelsea face Premier League leaders Manchester City on Sunday, six days after beating Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 in a memorable game in North London.

The Blues ran out 4-1 winners over their rivals on Monday evening, with Spurs reduced to nine men shortly after half-time when Destiny Udogie followed Cristian Romero in being sent off for the hosts.

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson netted. alate hat-trick – his first for the club – to earn Mauricio Pochettino’s side a huge victory on the Argentine’s return to his former club.

Scoring goals has been an issue for Pochettino’s side so far this term, despite netting four times on Monday, and it appears that those in charge of the club are plotting a move for an attacker.

According to Football Insider, the Blues have entered into the race to sign Lyon star Rayan Cherki.

Cherki has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs

The 20-year-old enjoyed a fine season last term and, despite Lyon’s abysmal start to the new campaign, Cherki remains of interest to a number of clubs across Europe.

In total, the Frenchman has scored 14 goals and provided 17 assists in 112 matches for his boyhood club across all competitions, having graduated from the youth academy.

The report claims that both Manchester United and Newcastle United are already interested in the attacker, and Chelsea are now ready to join the race to sign him next year.

Cherki’s current contract with Lyon is set to expire in the summer of 2025, which could suggest that the French side may be willing to listen to offers form him next summer if he refuses to extend his stay with the club.

Internationally, Cherki has scored four goals and provided three assists in his last three games for France Under-21s.
