Chelsea have reportedly joined Tottenham Hotspur in the chase to sign Colombia international defender Davinson Sanchez, according to De Telegraaf.

The defending Premier League champions, who shockingly suffered a 3-2 home defeat to the hands of Burnley on Saturday in their opening 2017-18 league game, have been linked with scuppering Spurs’ pursuit of the highly-rated Ajax centre-half before the close of the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old, who has two international caps for his country, has already featured twice for the Eredivisie outfit this season, scoring against French side OGC Nice in the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds.

Ajax’s Davinson Sanchez.

Sanchez, who only joined Ajax from Atletico Nacional last June on a five-year contract, scored six goals and provided two assists in 46 appearances in all competitions last season, as the Dutch outfit lost out to Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final back in May this year.

However; with Tottenham having had an initial £36m offer knocked back by Ajax for their star defender, the report now suggests Premier League rivals Chelsea are interested in the Colombian’s services, alongside La Liga giants Real Madrid.
