Arsenal make their return to the Champions League on Wednesday as they welcome PSV Eindhoven to The Emirates.

The Gunners haven’t featured in Europe’s top club competition for six years but have qualified this term courtesy of their second-placed finish in the Premier League last season.

Manager Mikel Arteta could make a number of changes to his side for the visit of their Eredivisie opponents, with a huge North London derby against rivals Tottenham Hotspur just days away.

One of the biggest decisions that Arteta will have to make will be choosing a goalkeeper, with David Raya having been preferred to Aaron Ramsdale against Everton last time out.

The Englishman has been Arsenal’s first choice ‘keeper since joining the club two years ago, but his future has been thrown into doubt and one of Arsenal’s rivals could now be preparing a sensational swoop.

According to The Mirror, Chelsea are keeping tabs on Ramsdale and could potentially make a move for the player in the future.

Ramsdale has emerged as a shock target for rivals Chelsea

Ramsdale, 25, joined the Gunners from Sheffield United back in 2021 and has since made 83 appearances for the club across all competitions, keeping 30 clean sheets.

Arsenal signed Raya on loan from Brentford over the summer, though, and the Spaniard is expected to make his switch across London permanent next summer.

With that in mind, Chelsea and German champions Bayern Munich are said to be monitoring Ramsdale’s situation.

The Blues have struggled to find a long-term first choice ‘keeper in recent seasons, and both Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga departed the club during the recent transfer window.

Robert Sanchez was signed from Brighton and Hove Albion, and Dedro Petrovic joined from MLS side New England Revolution.

At present, Ramsdale is contracted to Arsenal until the summer of 2026.
