Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is set to stay put in his role after guiding the Red Devils to an FA Cup triumph last season.

The Red Devils endured a dismal Premier League campaign, finishing eighth, and it has been rumoured that the Dutchman would be dismissed regardless of the result in the cup final against rivals Manchester City.

United ran out 2-1 winners at Wembley, though, and The Guardian have now reported that Ten Hag is set to remain in his post after an end of season review.

Now, those in charge of United’s recruitment will be working hard to identify potential transfer targets.

It appears, however, that the Manchester club have already lost ground in the race to sign a Premier League star.

According to 90min, Premier League rivals Chelsea are leading United in the race to sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise.

Olise has attracted interest from both Chelsea and Manchester United

The Frenchman has attracted interest from a number of big European clubs after impressing for the Eagles, but the report claims that the Blues are ahead of United in the race for Olise’s signature.

The 22-year-old scored ten goals and provided six assists in 19 Premier League games during an injury-hit season last term, but his impressive displays for Palace have attracted significant interest from elsewhere.

The forward, who is set to represent France at the Olympics later this year, joined the Eagles from Reading in 2021 and has since played 90 times for the London club, scoring 16 goals and registering 25 assists.

It is claimed that United haven’t yet formalised their interest in the Frenchman, as those in charge of the club are focussing on other areas of recruitment which are deemed to be more urgent.

Chelsea, meanwhile, came close to landing the player last year and are said to be keen to do so once again this summer.
