Chelsea are reportedly ready to replace star striker Diego Costa with Napoli hitman Gonzalo Higuain.
The defending Premier League champions have struggled immensely during the start of their 2015-16 defence, picking up just 11 points from their opening 12 fixtures, highlighted by Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Stoke City.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho is understood to be worried about the lack of goalscoring threat from Spain international Costa up front, who has found the back of the net just twice in 10 league appearances so far this season.
Meanwhile transfer target Higuain, who has 52 international caps for Argentina to his name, has already scored nine goals in 12 games in Serie A this term.
Underfire manager Mourinho worked with Higuain during his spell at Real Madrid and is said to be interested in bringing the Napoli star to Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window.
