Chelsea make the trip to the south coast to face Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday night.

The Blues have reached the final of the competition 11 times this century, but have been beaten in each of their past three appearances in the Wembley showpiece.

Enzo Maresca may see the competition as one of his best opportunities to lift silverware this term, and the Italian is therefore likely to field a strong side against the Seagulls on Saturday.

The Blues made just one signing during the recent transfer window, luring midfielder Mathis Amougou from French side Saint-Etienne.

Several players departed Stamford Bridge, but it appears that one of them will be on his way back to West London this summer.

According to Football Insider, midfielder carney Chukwuemeka is set to return to Chelsea when his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund ends.

Chukwuemeka is currently on loan at German side Borussia Dortmund

The 21-year-old made the move to Germany late in the January transfer window, but the report claims that he is set to return to his parent club at the end of the season as the deal didn’t include an obligation-to-buy clause.

It is claimed that the midfielder does have a release clause in his current contract with the Blues but, as Dortmund aren’t obliged to sign hm permanently, the player will have to convince his new side to do so if he wishes to stay put in Germany.

Chukwuemeka joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in 2022 but has since been plagued by injuries and has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at Stamford Bridge.

The Englishman had played just five times so far this season under Maresca, and he will hope to be given more opportunities at Dortmund.

The report also claims that the young midfielder turned down loan moves to Everton and West Ham United during the recent transfer window.
