This summer looks likely to be one of huge change for Chelsea as new manager Mauricio Pochettino attempts to overhaul his squad.

The ex-Tottenham Hotspur man has inherited an inflated playing roster at Stamford Bridge, with owner Todd Boehly having spent more than £500 million on 16 new signings over the past year.

It therefore looks likely that a number of players will be sold this summer in an effort to trim the squad and balance the books, but despite that it appears that the Blues are still on the hunt for new signings.

As per Football Insider, the west London outfit are now set to pursue a move for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo after missing out on Manuel Ugarte.

A deal for Sporting Lisbon star Ugarte was said to be close at one stage, but it now appears that the Uruguay international will join French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

With that in mind, the report claims that Chelsea will now attempt to sign Brighton star Caicedo, who has been in sensational form over the past 12 months.

Caicedo looks likely to leave The Amex this summer

The Ecuador international finished last season strongly and carried his momentum into this term.

His performances didn’t go unnoticed, though, as Arsenal made at least one offer to sign the player in January, with the report claiming that the Gunners offered £70 million.

The Gunners’ bid was rejected, though, and Caicedo penned a new long-term contract with the Seagulls shortly after the January window closed.

Despite that, the midfielder looks likely to leave his current side this summer, and Chelsea are said to be one of the clubs interested.

The report claims that the Blues have been admirers of Caicedo for a while now, and view him as a future superstar.

This term, the Ecuadorian made 43 appearances across all competitions, including 37 in the league as Brighton finished sixth and secured European football for the first time in their history.

Current Chelsea midfielders Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic have all been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge this summer, while N’Golo Kante’s future remains very uncertain as he enters into the final month of his current contract.
