Chelsea have made a move for Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain, Marca reports.

The 31-year-old is currently on loan at AC Milan, but it’s reported they are struggling to pay his £7.22million salary per season.

And with the San Siro outfit apprehensive to go ahead with the proposed £36.1million purchase at the end of the season, it’s claimed the Argentine has agreed to join Chelsea who it’s thought are willing to meet both Juve and the player’s money demands.

Higuain played for Blues boss, Maurizio Sarri at Napoli and managed his best return of goals, scoring 36 times in 35 games during the 2015/16 season.

Higuain has netted eight times in 20 matches for Milan.

Now the Italian boss is looking to recruit the prolific frontman in order to secure their Champions League spot for next season.

Current strikers, Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata, have only managed six Premier League goals between them this term.

If a deal for Higuain is agreed it could open up the door for Morata to leave Stamford Bridge in the January transfer market.

Chelsea are currently fourth in the Premier League, four points behind London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur in third.
