Thomas Tuchel has been nothing less than impressive since taking charge of Chelsea in January.

Not only has the German led the club to Champions League glory for just the second time, but he now has them sitting top of the Premier League after 11 games.

A solid defensive unit has provided the foundation to the Blues’ success under Tuchel with 29 clean sheets kept in 48 matches across all competitions.

But despite possessing such a stern backline, reports suggest that the ex-Paris Saint-Germain is lining up a move for another defender.

According to Foot Mercato, Chelsea have now made direct contact with the representatives of Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana.

The Frenchman starred for the Foxes in his first campaign in the Premier League following a transfer from Saint-Etienne but has not appeared this term after suffering a broken leg in pre-season.

Tuchel’s defence – including Rudiger – has proved tough to breach.

This doesn’t seem to have stopped Chelsea’s pursuit of the 20-year-old, who it’s claimed have made an approach for the player also linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid.

The Stamford Bridge side’s interest in Fofana may stem from the fact that the contracts of both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen expire at the end of the season.

Rudiger and Christensen have been key figures for Tuchel so losing one or both would leave a big hole in the squad which Fofana could potentially fill.
