Chelsea will be hoping to earn a third victory in a week when they make the trip to face Wolves on Christmas Eve. 

The Blues have been inconsistent so far this season but defeated Sheffield United 2-0 at Stamford Bridge last weekend, before progressing past Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup.

After a 1-1 draw, Mauricio Pochettino’s side defeated the Magpies 4-2 on penalties to set up a two-legged semi final against Championship side Middlesborough next month.

In the meantime, Chelsea have reportedly made a move to sign two players from the Portuguese top flight.

According to The Standard, the West London outfit have made contact with Sporting CP about a potential double swoop for Viktor Gyokeres and Ousmane Diomande.

The pair have both been in fine form so far this season and their performances have attracted interest from elsewhere.

Gyokeres, 25, joined Sporting from Championship side Coventry City over the summer and has since netted 17 times in 20 games across all competitions, as well as providing seven assists.

The Sweden international may have only just joined his current side, but the report claims that Chelsea have enquired about the player’s availability.

Sporting are reportedly demanding that his £87 million release clause is met if he is do depart the club.

As well as looking to add fire power, the Blues are also keen to bolster Pochettino’s options at the back and have therefore asked about the availability of Diomonde.

The one-time Ivory Coast international has also impressed so far this season, making 20 appearances across all competitions.

The defender also has a release clause in his current deal – set at £69 million – and Sporting are also demanding that the fee is met if they are to sell Diomande.
