Chelsea look set to have a summer of significant change, with Xabi Alonso succeeding Liam Rosenior at the helm.

The Spaniard was announced as the Blues’ new manager last month and will officially take charge at Stamford Bridge at the start of July.

The west London outfit have struggled in the Premier League since being taken over by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital in 2022, although they have not qualified for Europe next term and Alonso will therefore be able to focus on domestic competitions.

Ahead of the start of next season, it has emerged that Chelsea have made contact with one of the most prolific strikers in Europe.

As per CaughtOffside, the Blues have been in contact with the representatives of Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic.

The forward is set to leave current side Juventus when his contract expires at the end of the month, and several clubs are likely to be interested in the player.

Having joined Juventus from Serie A rivals Fiorentina back in 2022, Vlahovic has scored 68 goals in 168 games for the Old Lady.

Talks over a new deal have failed to progress, though, and the Serbia international is now set to leave Turin this summer.

Newcastle United, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all also said to be keeping tabs on the striker, who has scored 94 top flight goals in Italy.

Despite his availability as a free agent, the report suggests that Vlahovic will not come cheap as his salary and signing-on demands are likely to be high, which could rule out several interested parties.

Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are also said to be interested in the striker, while Bayern Munich are also credited with an interest.

Serie A sides Juventus and Inter Milan are also believed to be interested in the Serb, although Italian sides may struggle to compete financially with the might of the Premier League.
