Chelsea will hope to put an end to their dismal Premier League run when they host Wolves on Monday night.

Enzo Maresca’s side have failed to win any of their last five games in the competition, losing twice and drawing three times.

Last time out, captain Reece James rescued a point for the Blues with a late free-kick against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.

Away from the action, it appears that those in charge of Chelsea’s recruitment are working hard to bolster Maresca’s squad before the current transfer window shuts, and the Blues are now said to have made an offer to sign a Spanish winger.

According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea have made an initial offer for Deportivo La Coruna winger Yeremay Hernandez.

The report claims that the Blues have tabled an opening offer of £8.5 million for the winger, who primarily plays on the left.

Hernandez, 22, has played more than 70 times for Deportivo since graduating through the club’s youth system.

In that time he has scored 16 goals and provided eight assists, and the report claims that the Spanish side have rejected Chelsea’s initial bid.

This season, the Spaniard has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 18 matches in the Spanish second division.

Deportivo are holding out for a fee nearer to £18 million for the winger, who has represented Spain at Under-21 level.

It is also claimed that Premier League rivals Arsenal and Aston Villa have shown interest in the player, while Italian sides Juventus, Como and AC Milan are also credited with an interest.

Despite significant interest from elsewhere, Hernandez is contracted to Deportivo until the end of the 2029/30 campaign, putting the Spanish side under very little pressure to sell him any time soon.
