Chelsea’s winless run in the Premier League was extended to five games after they drew 2-2 against Bournemouth on Tuesday.

The Blues went ahead at Stamford Bridge courtesy of Cole Palmer’s 14th strike of the season, but goals from Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo turned the game on its head and put the Cherries in front.

Reece James then rescued a point for Chelsea in added time, guiding a free-kick into the net on his first league start since November.

Off the pitch, it appears that those in charge of the club’s recruitment are working hard to sign a new striker.

According to Simon Phillips, the West London side have made a second approach to the agent of Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap.

Phillips claims that Chelsea have approached the Englishman’s representatives for the second time this month, with a view to singing the player before the end of the current transfer window.

Delap, 21, joined the Tractor Boys from Manchester City last summer and is enjoying a fine debut season at Portman Road.

Delap has attracted interest from Chelsea after his impressive start to the season

The striker has scored eight goals in 19 Premier League matches so far – including a goal in Ipswich’s win over Chelsea in December – as well as registering two assists.

Delap is under contract with Ipswich until the end of the 2028/29 campaign, and the report suggests that Chelsea may be attempting to agree personal terms with the player.

The Blues are on the hunt for attacking reinforcements as they look to rest their dismal run of form.

Current striker Nicolas Jackson had enjoyed a fine start to the season, but hasn’t scored in any of his last five Premier League matches; a period during which Chelsea are winless.
