Chelsea will be hoping that goalkeeper Edouard Mendy will be back and available when the Premier League returns from the international break at the start of April.

The Senegal international joined Chelsea back in 2020 and established himself as The Blues’ first choice ‘keeper, but he suffered a shoulder injury at the start of the year that has kept him out of action ever since.

In his absence, Kepa Arrizabalaga has endured an inconsistent run of form, and it remains to be seen whether or not Mendy will resume his starting spot when he is back to full fitness.

Regardless of which ‘keeper becomes Chelsea’s first choice, it looks like the club may be on the look out for a new goalkeeper this summer, and one of their top targets could be available.

As per 90min, Porto could be forced to sell Diogo Costa this summer due to financial woes, with several Premier League clubs believed to be interested in the player.

The report claims that, as well as Chelsea, both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the Portugal international.

Costa could be in line for a move to the Premier League this summer

The Red Devils are yet to agree a contract extension with number one David de Gea, whose current deal is due to expire this summer.

Spurs, meanwhile, are reportedly on the hunt for a successor to club captain Hugo Lloris, who is currently sidelined through injury.

Costa, 23, has been in fine form for his current side of late, keeping 12 clean sheets in 25 games in the Portuguese top flight this term.

Despite his good form, Porto may sell the goalkeeper as they look to ease their financial troubles.

Costa recently signed a new deal with his current side that includes a release clause set at £65 million but, although Porto were initially intent on waiting for someone to meet that figure, the Portuguese side may instead have to sell him at a lower price.

Last term, Costa made 33 league appearances as Porto lifted the top flight title, but this season they currently sit ten points behind leaders Benfica.
