Antonio Conte’s players may have been celebrating over the weekend as they knocked London rivals Tottenham out of the FA Cup at Wembley to book their place in the final against Arsenal at the end of May, however, the Italian got straight back to work and has been laying out his summer plans.
According to reports from The Mirror, the Blues boss is plotting a summer spending spree of around £120m as he looks to bolster his squad ahead of the return of Champions League football to Stamford Bridge, and there are two Premier League targets topping his list.
Former Chelsea youngster and the current top scorer in the league, Romelu Lukaku, is a top target having snubbed a new deal at Goodison Park and with the future of Diego Costa on the line, whilst Conte is also looking for some added mettle at the back.
That mettle comes in the form of Southampton captain Vigil van Dijk, who has been out injured since a 3-0 win over Leicester in January. The Dutch international, who was by far Claude Puel’s player of the season until being sidelined, has attracted interest from top Premier League sides, with Liverpool being strongly linked with a move.
