Chelsea have reportedly joined the race to sign Ivory Coast international star Jean Michael Seri.

The defending Premier League champions, who visited Everton at Goodison Park this afternoon in the top-flight, have been linked with a move for the OGC Nice midfielder during next month’s transfer window.

The 26-year-old, who has 16 international caps for his country, has scored one goal and provided five assists in 21 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit so far this season.

Seri, who joined the French side for just €1m back in June 2015 following his move from Pacos de Ferreira, has netted 11 times in over 100 games for Nice overall.

The Ivorian was strongly tipped to join La Liga giants FC Barcelona this summer, but the deal ultimately fell through.

However, Guardian Sport’s Deputy News Editor, Ed Aarons, has tweeted to claim Manchester City, Everton and The Blues are all interested in snapping up the defensive midfielder next month, who could be available for around £25m.
