Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are set to fight it out for the signing of RB Leipzig attacker Christopher Nkunku, according to reports.

As per Football London, the trio of Premier League clubs are all keen on the Frenchman, who has been in superb form this season.

The attacking midfielder has scored 20 goals and provided 15 assists in 33 league games for the German side so far this season, and has also managed seven goals and two assists in six Champions League matches.

Leipzig are adamant that Nkunku will remain in Germany, however, with director Oliver Mintzlaff recently reiterating this.

“We have clearly discussed it internally: we won’t let Nkunku leave this summer, we told him and his agent,” he said.

The player still has more than two years remaining on his current deal, and Leipzig are therefore under little pressure to sell him this summer.

United are set for a huge summer overhaul, with Erik ten Hag replacing Ralf Rangnick at the helm and a number of senior players, including Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Nemanja Matic, all set to leave when their contracts expire at the end of the season.

Chelsea, meanwhile, will reportedly be in the market for attackers this summer, with Thomas Tuchel’s current crop failing to impress.

Nkunku has registered 34 goals and 20 assists in all competitions this season

The likes of Hakim Ziyech and Cristian Pulisic, who have been deployed in similar positions to Nkunku this term, have struggled in recent months could have been linked with a departure from London.

Arsenal, the third English side linked with the 24-year-old, failed to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January and look set to lose Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette, as well as midfielder Mohamed Elneny this summer.

That would leave Mikel Arteta short in both midfield and attack, and Nkunku’s versatility could make him a suitable candidate to bolster the Gunners’ ranks.

The France international, who made his debut for Les Bleus in March, has been used in a number of attacking roles this year, including attacking midfield, on both wings and as a striker.

Nkunku joined the Bundesliga side from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019, but it appears his time in Germany could be coming to an end.
