Tammy Abraham’s career in Italy got off to a flying start on Saturday, as the former Chelsea man provided two assists in Roma’s 3-1 victory over Fiorentina.

The 23-year-old departed West London last week after the arrival of Romelu Lukaku, and will now work with former Blues boss Jose Mourinho.

Abraham lines up alongside former Premier League stars Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Jordan Veretout and Rui Patricio.

However, the England international could soon be joined in the Italian capital by a former teammate.

According to Italian outlet Corriere De Sport, Portuguese Mourinho is keen to raid his former employers once again, this time for out of favour midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The report states that the Serie A side secured the services of Abraham by in-person talks and telephone conversations, and are hoping to do the same with Loftus-Cheek.

Loftus-Cheek spent last term on loan at Fulham.

The midfielder enjoyed a successful breakthrough season at Stamford Bridge during the tenure of Maurizio Sarri, but an unfortunate injury during a mid-season friendly in the U.S ended his season prematurely and he has never regained his form.

The Englishman, who represented the Three Lions at the 2018 World Cup, spent last season on loan at neighbours Fulham, but failed to impress when given the chance under ex-Chelsea midfielder Scott Parker.

Now, the opportunity could arise for the 25-year-old to work with once again with the man who gave him his debut for the club in 2014.

With the midfielder seemingly out of Thomas Tuchel’s plans having been excluded from the squad to face Arsenal on Sunday, it is believed that the club would be willing to let the player go, and that a fee of around £13.5 million would be enough for them to agree to part ways.
