Chelsea are poised to loan out France international Tiemoué Bakayoko to AC Milan, according to the Mirror.

The Premier League side, who take on Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium this afternoon (15:00) on the opening weekend of the 2018-19 campaign, have been strongly linked with offloading the central midfielder before the end of the month.

The 23-year-old, who has one international cap for his country, scored three goals and provided three assists in 43 appearances in all competitions for The Blues last season.

Bakayoko, who made his international debut against Spain back in March 2017, was left out of France’s 2018 World Cup winning squad this summer in Russia.

The report claims the midfielder is disappointed to not be in new manager Maurizio Sarri’s first-team plans ahead of the new term, and is poised to join Serie A side AC Milan on loan for the 2018-19 campaign.

Bakayoko only arrived at Stamford Bridge last July following his £40m transfer from Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco, but he struggled to justify his price tag under former boss Antonio Conte.

Confirmation is expected on Saturday about the player’s season-long loan to Milan.

Bakayoko’s departure would be Chelsea’s 29th summer transfer deal, though just four of them were incomings – Jorginho (Napoli), Robert Green (Huddersfield Town), Mateo Kovacic (Real Madrid) and Kepa Arrizabalaga (Athletic Bilbao).

The transfer window closed on August 9, though Premier League clubs can still sell or loan out players until August 31.
