Chelsea’s dismal start to the new season continued on Sunday as they were beaten 1-0 by Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.

Ollie Watkins’ first Premier League goal of the season was enough to earn Villa a useful victory over the Blues, who had full-back Malo Gusto sent off shortly after half-time.

The West London outfit have now won just one of their six Premier League matches since Mauricio Pochettino took charge of the club over the summer, leaving them 14th in the top flight table.

Chelsea’s woeful run of form is despite owner Todd Boehly having splashed out around £1 billion on transfer fees since taking charge of the club last summer.

During the recent transfer window, those in charge of the club allowed more than a dozen first team players to leave the club, and largely replaced them with younger, less experienced players.

Having broken the Premier League transfer record when signing Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for £108 million in January, the Blues then paid around £100 million to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Hove Albion over the summer.

Caicedo is believed to have earned a huge pay rise when joining Chelsea over the summer

Now, details of the Ecuador international’s contract with Chelsea have been revealed.

As reported by Tuttosport via The Liverpool Echo, the midfielder’s agent has revealed that he is currently earning around £150,000-per-week at Stamford Bridge.

Caicedo, 21 joined Brighton from Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle in February 2021 and broke into the first team at The Amex last year.

He made a total of 53 appearances for the Seagulls before completing his move to the capital, and the report claims that his wage has increased from £60,000-per-week.

Caicedo, who was also a target for Chelsea’s rivals Liverpool, signed an eight-year contract when completing his move to Stamford Bridge.

The midfielder has so far made five appearances for his new club.
