Chelsea look to have a manager and a squad capable of challenging for a first Premier League title since 2017.

Thomas Tuchel’s reign to date has been remarkable with the German turning the club’s league form and guiding them to a second Champions League victory in May.

This term the Blues are unbeaten in their opening three matches but fans will be disappointed to discover that they have missed out on signing a supposedly prime transfer target.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, a deal for Sevilla’s Jules Kounde is now off.

It’s claimed that there’s no agreement between the two clubs and that there’s no intention to negotiate.

This will come as a surprise to many as it seemed the France international would make the move to Stamford Bridge having been linked with the club most the summer.

Kounde, 22, has been sensational for Sevilla since a move from Bordeaux in 2019.

However, one plus side to the deal collapsing is that academy graduate Trevoh Chalobah could see extra game time following an impressive start to the campaign.

The Englishman made his debut in the Super Cup final and scored on his Premier League bow after spending the last three seasons out on loan.
