Chelsea are reportedly being linked with a move for Colombia international forward Luis Muriel, according to La Repubblica.

The Premier League side, who currently sit top of the English top-flight standings following their latest 2-1 victory against fellow Londoners Tottenham at Stamford Bridge over the weekend, are understood to be keeping close tabs on the Sampdoria striker following his prolific form in front of goal so far this term.

The 25-year-old, who has 14 international caps for his country, has scored an impressive eight goals and provided five assists in 15 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit so far this season.

Muriel, who has also played for the likes of Udinese, Granada (loan) and Lecce (loan), is generating wide interest among top European clubs ahead of the January transfer window considering his terrific start to the 2016-17 campaign.

The report adds that the Colombian ace has a release clause of around €28m, which equates to around £23.75m, with Italian rivals Napoli also said to be registering an interest in Muriel’s services.
