Chelsea manager Frank Lampard will be hoping to pick up his first win since returning to the club when his side face Bournemouth on Saturday.

The ex-England international took interim charge of The Blues last month but has so far overseen six consecutive defeats, and an unthinkable relegation is still mathematically possible.

Lampard’s side also face a tough run-in with games against Manchester United, Manchester City and Newcastle United yet to come, so the former Everton boss will be desperate for victory over the Cherries.

In the meantime, it appears that the club are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper.

According to The Telegraph, The Blues are monitoring Inter Milan star Andre Onana, with a view to signing the ‘keeper this summer.

Goalkeeper has become something of a problem area for Chelsea in recent seasons, with both Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy having failed to nail down the starting spot for a prolonged period of time.

At present the Spaniard appears to be Lampard’s first choice, with Mendy yet to feature in 2023.

Onana is said to be a target for Chelsea this summer

Onana, 27, joined Serie A side Inter from Ajax last summer and has since impressed for the Italian outfit.

He has made 35 appearances across all competitions so far this term, keeping 16 clean sheets in the process.

Despite that, the report claims that Chelsea are optimistic about their chances of signing the Cameroon international this summer.

The Blues reportedly believe that the player will be available for around £40 million, despite only having joined his current side last summer.

When he joined Inter, Onana signed a five-year contract that isn’t due to expire until 2027, but it appears increasingly unlikely that he will stay put at the club until that date.

During a seven-year spell with Amsterdam, Onana made 214 appearances for Ajax, keeping 85 clean sheets across all competitions.
