Chelsea will be hoping to kickstart their season when they face Brighton and Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup third round on Wednesday.

The Blues have endured a dismal start to the new campaign, losing to West Ham United, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa to leave them 14th in the Premier League table.

Mauricio Pochettino, who took charge of the club over the summer, will be desperate to see an improved performance from his side when they welcome the Seagulls to Stamford Bridge.

Arguably Chelsea’s biggest problem has been scoring goals, with the Blues having netted just five times in the league so far.

New signing Nicolas Jackson has only scored once since joining the club from Villarreal over the summer, and it appears that those in charge could make a move for attacking reinforcements.

As per 90min, the Blues are monitoring Napoli striker Victor Osimhen after the striker’s public fallout with his current employers.

Osimhen’s future at Napoli has been thrown into doubt

Over the weekend a controversial video was posted on the Serie A club’s official TikTok account, mocking the striker after he missed a penalty against Bologna at the weekend.

The player’s agent has since threatened the Naples outfit with legal action, but the report also claims that contract negotiations between the two parties had already been stalling.

Osimhen, 24, is currently contracted to Napoli until 2025 and talks over an extension, which would have included a £130 million release clause, have failed to progress.

The Nigeria international joined his current club from French side Lille back in 2020 and has since scored 62 goals in 127 matches across all competitions.

Last season he scored 26 Serie A goals as Napoli lifted the Italian top flight title for the first time in three decades.

Osimhen is said to have been a target for Chelsea some time now, with the report claiming that the club have always viewed him as a target that would be more attainable next summer.
