Chelsea look to have been one of the most shrewd clubs during this summer’s transfer window, with the Blues having recouped over £100 million in sales to appease the signing of Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian, who returned to Stamford Bridge earlier this summer, made an immediate impression with a debut goal against Arsenal, and already looks to have made a huge impact on the side.

The likes of Tammy Abraham, Marc Guehi, Kurt Zouma and Davide Zappacosta have all been sold in recent weeks, and there could yet be more sales to come.

Ross Barkley, Danny Drinkwater, Baba Rahman and Tiemoue Bakayoko all look set to depart the club, but it remains to be seen whether or not suitors can be found for them.

Now, it appears that Chelsea’s spending for the summer may not be over just yet.

Despite the window shutting in less than 48 hours, it appears that the Blues are still working hard on two potential signings, with a view to completing both before the 11pm deadline on Tuesday.

Saul Niguez is still being linked with a move to Chelsea despite the window being hours from closing.

Speaking to Transfer Talk on Sky Sports News, journalist Fabrizio Romano explained how the Blues are still working to complete deals for a pair of La Liga players.

“Keep an eye on the situation at Chelsea,” Romano said.

“It will be interesting to see what happens with Jules Kounde because now the deal with Sevilla looks complicated.

“There is still no total agreement.

“Chelsea were really confident for days and days, but now it’s getting complicated. Let’s see if Chelsea can change this situation.

“Also, there’s Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid to Chelsea made a loan with option to buy bid.”

The update may come as a surprise to some Blues fans, as news of a move for Kounde has quietened.

The French defender has been linked with a switch to West London for most of the summer, with Zouma, who has since joined West Ham, once being touted as possibly being part of a player-plus-cash deal.

Rumours of a move for Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez, meanwhile, have surfaced more recently and the Blues are reportedly battling it out with Manchester United for the signing of the Spaniard.

A deal would likely be a loan move, with the La Liga side willing to let the player leave despite his importance to the side in recent seasons.
