Liverpool will be back in action on Sunday when they face Bournemouth.

Jurgen Klopp’s side defeated Premier League title rivals Arsenal 2-0 in the FA Cup third round last time out, and the German will be hoping to see his side extend their lead at the top of the league table with victory over the Cherries.

At present, the Reds sit two points clear at the top of the Premier League standings, with reigning champions Manchester City two points behind in second.

With the transfer window now in full swing, Klopp will likely be looking to bolster his squad this month, and the Merseyside outfit are now being linked with a move for a Premier League midfielder.

According to AS via The Mirror, both Liverpool and Chelsea could move for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes if the Brazilian is put up for sale.

Guimaraes could be sold by Newcastle this summer

The report claims that the Magpies could be forced to sell one of their key players this summer in order to adhere to Financial Fair Play rules, and Guimaraes is one of those that has been considered.

It is also claimed that the midfielder agreed to a £98 million release clause when he joined the club, which would be payable in three instalments.

Guimaraes, 26, joined Newcastle from French side Lyon in the summer of 2022 and has since been hugely impressive.

In total the Brazil international has made 87 appearances for Newcastle across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing ten assists.

Despite his importance to Eddie Howe’s side, Guimaraes could be sold this summer and Chelsea, Liverpool, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain are all reportedly interested in the Brazilian.

The report also claims that Liverpool made contact over a possible move for Guimaraes last May.
