Chelsea will hope to end their poor run of form in the Premier League when they host Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

Enzo Maresca’s side have lost two and drawn two of their past four matches in the competition, sliding from second to fourth in the table in the process.

While the Blues did cruise to a 5-0 win over League Two side Morecambe in the FA Cup third round on Saturday, Maresca will be desperate to see his side pick up all three points and arrest their poor Premier League form.

Off the pitch the transfer window is now in full swing and a number of Chelsea players have been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge.

It has emerged now, though, that one Chelsea star has rejected a move away from the club.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, defender Renato Veiga has rejected a permanent move away from Chelsea.

The Portuguese is said to be keen on the idea of a loan move away from SW6 for the remainder of the season, as he hopes to secure himself game time as a central defender.

Veiga has been the subject of interest from Borussia Dortmund

Veiga joined Chelsea from Swiss side Basel last summer, and has primarily been used as a left-back by Maresca so far this term.

The Portugal international, who has also been deployed in midfield, has made a total of 18 appearances across all competitions this season.

Romano claims that German side Borussia Dortmund are currently leading the race to sign the 21-year-old, who is reluctant to leave Chelsea on a permanent basis.

Veiga has already been capped three times by Portugal at international level, but he is said to be keen to play regularly as a central defender in order to give himself a better chance of becoming a regular for his country.

The player’s only two appearances as a centre-back so far this term have both been in the Europa Conference League.
